Where we are building Delia?
and Why I Chose Heartbeat (and How You Can Choose Your platform).
Your community platform isn’t just a tool, it’s the foundation for everything you build. Here’s why I planted Delia in Heartbeat, and what you should consider when choosing a home for your own community.
When I first started mapping out Delia, I knew it couldn’t just live anywhere. It needed a space that felt intentional, safe, and human. Not another noisy feed or clunky course platform. I wanted soul and structure.
That’s why I chose Heartbeat.
Here’s what sealed the deal:
🧭 Ease of navigation — No more confusion or overwhelm. Heartbeat gives members a clean, intuitive space where everything flows.
🔒 Private & safe — In a world where women+ communities are often exploited for data or ignored by design, I needed a place that put safety and control first.
📚 All-in-one tools — Events, chat, courses, resources, threads — no juggling 6 apps. We’re building a central home for clarity, not chaos.
🌱 Built for depth, not vanity metrics — Heartbeat doesn’t push performative engagement. It’s about genuine connection, not constant content or algorithms.
And honestly? It just feels good to use. It’s clean, flexible, and aligned with the way we want to build: with care, purpose, and people at the centre.
Delia deserves a thoughtful foundation — and Heartbeat is the soil we’re planting in.
Choosing the Right Platform for Your Community: Think Long-Term
When you’re deciding where your community will live, it’s tempting to pick a platform based solely on what you need right now. But communities aren’t short-term projects — they’re living, evolving spaces. Your platform choice is the foundation for years of growth.
So, don’t just ask “Does it work for me today?” Ask:
💰 What is this platform investing in?
🥍 Does its direction support my community’s future goals?
The best platforms evolve by listening to their users and investing in innovations that make long-term growth possible.
📚 The takeaway? Look beyond the current feature set. Choose a platform that grows with you and aligns with your vision for what your community can become.
TWOMore Things to Consider (Especially for Femtech & Sextech Brands)
Femtech and sextech spaces face unique challenges that most “mainstream” community builders never have to think about. When choosing a platform, I recommend adding these three to your checklist:
1️⃣ Data & privacy protection — Your members may share sensitive personal information. You need to be confident that the platform takes security seriously, stores data safely, and won’t sell or misuse it.
2️⃣ Content moderation policies — Many platforms automatically flag or remove sexual health and wellness content, even if it’s educational. Check whether the platform’s policies protect your ability to communicate openly without risking account suspensions.
We’ll be deep diving into this and much more in Delia — from how to vet platforms and negotiate contracts, to building a tech stack that works for women+ communities.
